Shruti Haasan: I am proud of my parents!

New Delhi, May 1 -- Despite her parents, actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika enjoying a larger-than-life image in the industry, actor Shruti Haasan could not make much of a mark with her initial films.

However, the actor, who was panned for her performance in her debut film Luck (2009) says that she did not feel disappointed. "I was not a good actor when I entered the industry, but I am a good actor now. I did not get deterred because I am someone who pushes through," says the 29-year-old. She adds that she never let comparison with her parents get to her. "I am proud of my parents and the kind of artists that they are. They never raised me to take expectations seriously," she says.

The actor, who will next be seen in an Akshay Kumar starrer, says that while she never received any acting lessons from her father, he gave her some valable advice.

"He believes that acting cannot be taught. He told me to be disciplined and push my boundaries," she says. However, he did give her dancing lessons. "He was my first dance mentor. I started dancing because of my father. When I was small, he used to teach me," says the actor, who was last seen in a special appearance in Tevar (2015).
